Welcome New Graduate Students
Dear New Graduate Student,
Welcome to the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University Bloomington! We are pleased that you are now a part of the anthropology community at IUB. You are joining one of the largest, active, and most diverse anthropology departments in the country which includes several research and training programs, laboratories, and associate research centers. As a department, our goal is to promote excellence in research, teaching and training, and the practice of anthropology by fostering a collaborative and collegial environment which welcomes intellectual diversity and complementarities. We hope that you will, from the start, participate on academic and social activities of the department and become an active member of the Anthropology Graduate Student Association (AGSA). We value the participation of graduate students on the governance of the department.
The goal of this page is to provide you with brief, yet useful information and material aimed at facilitating your arrival in Bloomington and your initial academic activities. Other sections of the departmental webpage will provide you with more detailed information about requirements, procedures, courses, contact information, important forms, etc. Below you will find useful information prepared by our Director of Graduate Studies, Professor Stacie King, our Graduate Administrator, Debra Wilkerson, and members of the Anthropology Graduate Student Association.
Welcome and best wishes for a successful beginning.
