This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to learn about African music as an art form and an integral part of the African way of life:

  1. Theoretical presentations will focus on the multifaceted role of music as an integral part of the African culture
  2. Hands-on presentations will enable participants to learn aspects of African culture by performing samples from the continent's rich musical traditions.

We invite you to learn some basic tenets of African music, through hands-on experience in different African music traditions. Come and discover simple ways to bring the music back to your students while furthering their understanding of African culture through musical performance. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to learn about African music from IU graduate students and professors.
