Welcome to the Indiana University African Languages Club!

This group was newly formed in the Fall semester of 2006 as a joint venture between the Linguistics Department and the African Studies Department at Indiana University-Bloomington in order to encourage the use and study of all African languages. The primary goal of this group is to bring together speakers of African languages, both native and students, on the IU campus and to raise awareness of the programs and courses offered at IU to individuals interested in learning more about this topic.

We hope that this group will supplement the many great opportunities for learning African languages already offered at Indiana University. As a community of African language speakers, members of the IU African Languages Club can gain valuable knowledge from one another by conversing about their experiences, concerns, and successes in this field of study. Language tables sponsored by the African Languages Club will also serve as a safe and non-threatening environment for students to test out their newly acquired language skills with their peers, as well as with more experienced students and native speakers.

We invite you to explore our website and the resources that it contains. All interested parties are invited to join us at club meetings and events. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about the African Languages Club or if you are interested in learning more.
