ACC Offers Year Round Outreach Programs For Children by Mi-Young Kim
The Asian Culture Center welcomes anyone who would like to learn more about the diverse peoples and cultures of Asian countries. We are especially excited to receive young visitors with huge curiosities. For these youngsters, the ACC offers two-hour workshops, such as our day camps, during the summer. Activities they can participate in include craft-making, storytelling, singing as well as games from countries like India and Pakistan, to Indonesia and Japan. During the fall and spring semesters, we offer shorter children’s programs. Many groups, including those from Bloomingkids, a mentoring program for elementary school children, have visited the Center, and they keep coming back for more. In December, the ACC will host students from Harmony school when they will be learning more about India. With this early exposure to diversity, we hope that children will have a more balanced view of the world, and be encouraged to grow into open-minded individuals. Top
