APA Heritage Month Opening Lunch Reception and Announcement of Winners for the Annual Creative Writing Contest

She was born and raised in New York City, attending Hunter College Elementary School and Hunter College High School for a total of 14 years. She majored in applied math and economics at Harvard. After college, she went to China and spent a year at Beijing University studying international relations.

The Asian American Association kicking off their celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with the 16th annual Taste of Asia on Sunday, April 5th. The event will begin at 4:00PM, with doors opening at 3:30PM, at the IU Auditorium. The theme of this year's show is Traveling Through Asia, with a combination of cultural performances and food to highlight the diversity within Asian American culture. The event is completely free and open to everyone. We hope to see you there!

Description: Asian Cultures around Campus is an on-going series of performances and/or instructional demonstrations featuring student talents as well as homegrown and renowned artists outside of Bloomington. Through these performances and demonstrations, the Asian Culture Center endeavors to bring the Asian cultures closer to the university and Bloomington communities. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Asian Knowledge Bowl Competition
Date: TBA
Description: Come and witness student groups face off against other students in a quiz bowl style team competition which will test their knowledge of Asian American history and culture. Winning teams will receive the following prizes: the first place, a $250 deposited into their student organization account; the second place, a $100 for their student organization. The competition is open to all registered undergraduate student organizations. To register, a team must have 3 team members.

Description: This is a special time when IUAAA formally presents the 2009 Asian Alumni Distinguished Award recipient and for IUAAA and co-sponsoring organizations to recognize the contributions of student leaders, graduating students, and volunteers.

AsianFest at the Farmers' Market

The Asian Culture Center in cooperation with the City of Bloomington's Safe and Civil City Program and Parks and Recreation departments cordially invites you to Asianfest celebration. Come and enjoy the diversity within Asian cultures through cultural performances, art crafts, cultural activities such as Asian roulette, Skittles Chopstick Challenge, and Raffle draw. Have a taste of Korean Chapche, Bulgogi, Classic Filipino Turon, Japanese Beef Curry, and Vietnamese Goi Du Du (Green Papaya Salad) at the cooking demonstration.
