Student Employment

The AAAI offers part-time positions to graduate and undergraduate students in instructional, management, and technical areas. We will be accepting applications December 1, 2009 for the Academic Year 2010 – 2011. Student positions provide financial aid and work experience for those pursuing bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees at Indiana University – Bloomington.

General Requirements for Student Employment: Enrollment in a degree program on the Bloomington campus. (New students may apply prior to acceptance to the University; however, acceptance must be confirmed before appointments are awarded.)

Graduate Appointments: Graduate assistant and associate instructor positions are offered in 10-month appointments, August through May, to graduate students. Positions are renewable for up to four years. Hours range from 15 to 20 per week. Appointees are awarded monthly stipends, from 6 to 12 credits of fee remission each fall and spring semester, plus up to 6 credits of fee remission for summer session courses.

Hourly Positions: Hourly positions are offered primarily to undergraduate students, but also on occasion to graduate students. Most hourly positions are in technical areas. Hourly students normally work from 10 to 20 hours per week and are paid bi-weekly

• Complete an application to Indiana University. Graduate students should apply to the appropriate school or department. Undergraduate students should apply to the Office of Admissions.
• Prior to applying for employment complete the Federal FAFSA form with the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Associate Instructor Positions (2010 – 2011)

Associate Instructor, Dance Company - Assists with auditions, instruction, and choreography; requires excellent dance, choreographic, teaching and interpersonal skills.

Associate Instructor/Horn Coach, Soul Revue - Assists with arranging and instruction; requires excellent performance, arranging, and teaching ability, understanding of black performance styles.

Associate Instructor/Rhythm Coach, Choral Ensemble or Soul Revue (2 separate positions) - Assists with arranging and instruction; requires excellent performance, arranging, and teaching ability, understanding of black performance styles.

Associate Instructor/Vocal Coach, Choral Ensemble or Soul Revue (2 separate positions) - Assists with arranging and instruction; requires excellent performance, arranging, and teaching ability, understanding of black performance styles.

Graduate Assistant Positions (2010 – 2011)

Writer/Editor and Alumni Liaison - Serves as the AAAI’s primary writer/editor, assist with marketing and event planning; requires outstanding communication skills.

Media Assistant - Coordinates and implements graphic, photographic, and video production; requires editing experience with all media.

Promotion Coordinator - Coordinates and maintains promotional activities, including flyers, brochures and contact databases; requires previous promotional experience, excellent organization and communication skills.

Road Manager (3 positions) - Manages ensemble databases, performance activities both in-house and while touring; requires excellent organization and interpersonal skills, and previous experiences in arts management.

Hourly Positions (2010 – 2011)

Audio Technician (several positions) - Sets up and operates PA system and other AV equipment on and off campus, within and outside of Bloomington; requires training and experience in audio technology and PA operation.

Media Assistant - Coordinates and implements graphic, photographic, and video production; requires editing experience with all media. (Qualified undergrads are encouraged to apply.)
