Academics

Indiana University Bloomington is a comprehensive research university, attracting top faculty and scholars from around the world and offering personalized learning experiences, including Intensive Freshman Seminars, Freshman Interest Groups, overseas study, the Hutton Honors College, and many other academic programs.

Our emphasis on the freshman learning experience was recognized by TIME magazine when it named IU "College of the Year" among research universities in 2001, while our blend of tradition and technology was extolled by the Newsweek-Kaplan College Guide when it named IU its "Hottest Big State School" in 2005.

Miles Taylor

"The campus is overflowing with ways for students to engage the world and make a serious difference, not just in the future, but now. Professors are willing to involve students in their work, and an endless number of student organizations provide powerful ways to affect change. This semester alone I was able to work with several professors to organize a conference at IU to help Burma draft a new constitution for their country."
