Minor in Philosophy

REQUIREMENTS:

Students must complete a minimum of fifteen credit hours of philosophy including:

  • Not more than one (1) course at the 100 level.
  • At least two (2) courses at the 300 or 400 level.
  • At least one (1) course above the 100 level in three of the following areas*:
    • Logic
    • Ethics (or value theory)
    • History of Philosophy
    • Epistemology and metaphysics
    • Special topics
      *In unusual circumstances students may petition to the director of undergraduate studies for an exception, but in all cases a minor must involve work above the 100 level, in at least two areas.
  • At least two (2) courses must be completed in one of the areas listed above.

The GPA of each course taken for the minor must be at least 2.0.

The undergraduate advisor for the Department of Philosophy should be consulted with any problems or questions.
