Calendar of Events

President's Diversity Initiative: Indiana University is striving to become a leader among research universities in creating and sustaining a university climate that promotes excellence through diversity and equity. Diversity in all of its myriad facets enriches the educational experience of the academy and the global community that it serves. The concept of a diverse Indiana University is an academic issue, as well as an economic, social, and cultural issue for Indiana, the nation, and the world.

The President's Diversity Initiative is a $1 million commitment to fund proposals that successfully address diversity in at least one of the four dimensions outlined in Campus Diversity Plans:

  • Institutional Leadership and Commitment - Clarity of expectations, resource investment, and accountability at all levels of leadership
  • Curricular and Co-Curricular Transformation - Incorporation of principles of multiculturalism, pluralism, equity and diversity into the curriculum and co-curriculum
  • Campus Climate - The degree to which the events, messages, symbols, values of the campus make it a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Representational Diversity - The degree to which the campus attracts, retains, and develops students, faculty, and staff of color

Any unit of Indiana University is eligible to apply for funding under this initiative. Proposals should not exceed 5 pages and must be submitted electronically to the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs at dema@indiana.edu by November 3.
