IU's Covenant with 21st Century Scholars - closing the gap between debt and a degree

Indiana University’s mission is to make a college education accessible to every state resident, and our 21st Century Scholarship Covenant is a key part of that effort. The Indiana legislature created the 21st Century Scholars Program as a way to help deserving students earn college degrees, regardless of family income. The program provides grants to ensure that qualified students can pay tuition and required fees at state-supported institutions. However, tuition and fees represent less than half of the total cost of a college education because they exclude such costs as room, board and books. That’s why IU Bloomington created the 21st Century Scholarship Covenant — to meet this remaining need, based on the family’s expected contribution, and close the financial gap that prevents students from enrolling.

Senator Bayh says Indiana's 21st Century Scholars program provide students with crucial access to higher education:

Since then, thousands of students have used 21st Century Scholars to realize the dream of a college education. Now, Indiana University's commitment to cover additional costs will give even more students an opportunity to get the quality education they need to succeed."

Helping College Dreams Become Reality - NASFAA Promotes Launch Of KnowHow2Go Campaign

NASFAA is helping to promote the launch of an innovative multimedia national campaign to help young people make their college dreams a reality. The KnowHow2Go campaign reaches out to underserved students, connecting them with information and resources that will help prepare them for a post secondary education.
