Instructions for Students Writing Thank-you Letters

  1. Simply write a warm and fact-filled letter to your benefactor(s) on your computer (the Development office will fill in the salutation). It need not be lengthy. Be sure to include your thanks and proofread carefully. (See Thank You Letter Sample).
  2. If you have multiple scholarships you only need to write ONE letter. The Development office will duplicate it. Of course, if you choose (and we encourage you to do so), you may write individual letters to each.
  3. Send your letter as text via e-mail to: coaschol@indiana.edu. Include your name, major, department and name of your scholarship(s) on the subject line. If you prefer to send your benefactor a hand written letter, please call the Development office (855-6276) for instructions.
  4. The Development office will forward your letter to your benefactor(s) and notify the Office of Student Financial Assistance that you have fulfilled your obligation.
  5. Questions? Call or e-mail Elizabeth England, Director of Stewardship, coaschol@indiana.edu or 855-6276.
