Scholarships and Awards - for students who have been accepted to the IU College of Arts and Sciences, with a declared major
- Currently enrolled Direct Admit freshmen may be eligible to apply for the Sally Kissinger Wilt Merit Scholarship. See the Scholarships list for a description of this award.
- The IU Life Sciences Scholarship is open to undergraduates at all stages who are majoring in the life sciences, who are participating in the Liberal Arts and Management Programs, and who plan to enter the Kelley School of Business MBA program directly after graduating. Awards are generally $6,000 per academic year ($3,000 per semester). See web site for eligibility criteria and application information.
- Current full-time students in all College of Arts and Sciences major programs, who expect to graduate in May or August of 2009, are eligible for the College of Arts and Sciences Senior Scholarship Competition. Individual award amounts vary. See the Scholarships list for a description of this competition.
- The Palmer-Brandon Prize, for outstanding students in the Humanities. In 2006, two students each received $20,000. See the Scholarships list for complete information.
College-administered external competitions for upper class students majoring in Natural and Mathematical Sciences:
Every year the College of Arts and Sciences holds a competition for a large award funded outside of Indiana University.
- The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program, for students who intend to pursue careers in science, mathematics or engineering. Each year, more than 300 students nationwide receive up to $7,500 per year for up to two years to cover the costs of university attendance. Current sophomores and juniors may apply to the College of Arts and Sciences for nomination to the Goldwater Foundation during the application period in the fall. The Foundation does not accept applications from individual students.
