Present: Erik Bucy, Ellen Dwyer, Katy Fraser, Roy Gardner, Kevin Hunt (chair), Chuck Livingston (recorder), Al Ruesink, Rob Shakespeare

1. The meeting began at 4:00 PM with the approval of the minutes of November 20, as amended.

2. The Nominations Committee of the CPC continues to seek nominations for the election to the 2004-2005 Policy Committee. Three positions are to be filled: two from Arts and Humanities (including Communication and Culture) and one from Social and Behavioral Sciences (including Apparel Merchandising & Interior Design, Criminal Justice, Speech and Hearing Science, and Telecommunications). Nominations should be sent to Susan Gubar (gubar@indiana.edu) and copied to Kevin Hunt (kdhunt@indiana.edu).

3. The Policy Committee discussed the need for greater awareness among faculty of key University policies. To encourage this, the Committee decided to regularly publish website links to such policies. As the first such posting, the University's policies on sexual harassment and consensual amorous and sexual relationships between instructors and students and the rationale for the policies, can be found at: www.indiana.edu/~bfc/docs/policies/sexualharrassment.htm .

The Committee welcomes comments and suggestions for further postings.

4. Dean Subbaswamy's planning meetings with each departmental chair and program director are being scheduled for the 2003-2004 academic year. Kevin Hunt assigned individual CPC members to attend the first of these meetings. The Committee further discussed the role of its observers at these meetings, and ways in which their participation could enhance the planning process and other activities of the CPC.

5. Katy Fraser reported on the first of the planning meetings, held with the Department of Linguistics on December 4.

6. The meeting concluded at 5:30 PM.
