College of Arts and Sciences Policy Committee Minutes

November 18, 2005

Present: Rob Shakespeare (chair), Judith Anderson, Bob Becker, Tom Busey, Sandra Dolby, Roger Levesque, and Al Ruesink (recorder).

The meeting convened at 2:00.

Minutes of the November 11 meeting were approved unanimously as written.

We continued our discussion designed to update a number of CPC Policy Documents. After some more tweaking, we voted to send four of them to Dean Swamy for his consideration. Using his responses, we will consider them further and then distribute them with our minutes for faculty input. Finally we will vote on them formally.

The CPC will look a bit different next semester. Tom Busey has been serving on an interim basis and he will step aside as Erik Bucy, who has been on leave, will return in January to complete his last semester on the CPC. Rob and Al will also complete their terms in May. Because Rob has undertaken some new creative activities for next semester, he has asked to be released from his position as chair but will continue as a regular committee member. When we meet on Dec. 2nd, we hope to pick a chair for the spring, perhaps with a commitment to chair the following year as well.

Because Rob has not yet heard anything back from President Herbert, Chancellor Gros Louis, or Search Committee Chair Brown regarding our letter of Nov. 8 on the Chancellor search situation, Rob was asked to send a follow-up message to them.

The meeting adjourned at 3:09.

Albert Ruesink, recorder
