Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office Staff and Responsibilities

Kirstine Lindemann, Director of Undergraduate Academic Affairs and Senior Academic Assistant Dean: Handles cases of academic misconduct, grade appeals (convener, Academic Fairness Committee), grade changes, overload petitions, course credit for overseas studies, backdated degrees, and other special cases involving exceptions to academic policy and requirements.

W. David Halloran, Academic Assistant Dean, Chair of the Scholarship and Probation Committee, and Director of Student Retention: Coordinates foreign language testing for international students with the appropriate departments. Handles cases of students with problems in Math or foreign languages in coordination with IUB's Office of Disability Services for Students.

Michael W. Lundell, Academic Assistant Dean and Coordinator of Curriculum: Coordinates changes to the curriculum with and for the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education. Coordinates changes to the Bulletin, reviews requests for new courses.

Janet East, Director of Student Services: Responsible for creation, development and implementation of improved service opportunities within the College of Arts and Sciences. Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of SIS/Peoplesoft Degree Progress Reports for the College, and trains all College personnel in the effective use of the SIS/Peoplesoft Degree functions related to student advising.

Jim Brown, Director of Advising: College of Arts and Sciences Exploratory Students: Provides academic advice to Exploratory students in the College who have not declared a major. Coordinates new advisor training and law school recommendations.

Doris Howard, Administrative Secretary: Manages office operations and supervises office support personnel. Screens incoming calls, and directs inquiries to the proper resource for resolution, or makes an appointment with the office director if appropriate.

Sam Eggleston, Student Services Assistant: Schedules student advising appointments for College of Arts and Sciences Exploratory students and Second Degree students. Screens incoming calls and directs students to the appropriate resource for resolution, or makes appointments with the appropriate dean.
